In order to treat hair loss, Dr. Adrianna Browne at Illustra Dermatology will first determine the cause and/or type of hair loss before working with her clients to recommend the best treatment.

Because so many things may cause hair loss, a dermatologist acts like a detective and gets a thorough history. Dr. Browne will ask you relevant questions to help determine the reason for your hair loss, questions such as: How long have you been experiencing hair loss? Do any members of your family experience hair loss? Do you have itching, burning, or pain of the scalp? Dr. Browne will perform an extensive examine you during the hair loss consultation. The exam will provide vital information as to the root cause of your hair loss. During the exam, Dr. Browne will carefully look at the overall health of one’s scalp and hair, and she may pull on your hair to get the necessary evidence to see if the strands are prone to breakage or shedding. In some cases, a blood test or scalp biopsy may be needed. The history, examination, and scalp biopsy are done in the comfort of Dr. Browne’s patient-centric Bay Area practice.
